Out of this, three networks are in commercial use.

A tier-one operator in Europe has selected Huawei as its Virtual IP Multimedia Subsystem (vIMS) supplier for cloud-based VoLTE deployment.

80 operators in 42 countries are investing in VoLTE deployments, studies or trials, with 14 operators having launched HD voice service using VoLTE in 7 countries. Many more launches are expected in 2015, said GSA in a January 2015 note.

Analysys Mason recently said that there will be momentum around voice over Wi-Fi, and VoLTE will join later as an integrated proposition. Indoor coverage issues and extension of over-the-top (OTT) service will be some of the growth drivers.

More telecom operators will deploy VoLTE services in 2015 and beyond. Some will market HD voice quality. Operators should be aiming to collectively improve the user experience of operator voice in the face of increased competition from OTT VoIP services.

PCCW-HKT and Huawei jointly announced the commercial launch of VoLTE in Hong Kong on May 5, 2014.

Huawei and China Mobile Zhejiang jointly announced the completion of VoLTE network deployment and the start of VoLTE video commercial trials in Hangzhou city on December 18, 2014.
