At the MWC 2014 (Mobile World Congress), Huawei and South Korea operator LG Uplus conducted a live demo of the world’s first three-carrier (3CC) carrier aggregation (CA) for LTE-Advanced, showing peak data rates at 450 Mbps.
Huawei will deploy 3CC CA on LG Uplus’s network later this year. LG Uplus will leverage spectrum on three bands including 850MHz, 2.1GHz, and 2.6GHz to improve customer experience by deploying Huawei’s 3CC CA solution. It is expected that LG Uplus’ seven million LTE users till September 2013 and future users will benefit.
In January, Huawei and LG Uplus completed 3CC CA test in a lab environment in South Korea that achieved a 300 Mbps data rate over the air.
The solution demonstrated at MWC 2014 aggregates three carriers of 10MHz, 10MHz and 20MHz bandwidth to efficiently deliver an ultra-fast data speed, strengthen overall network capacity, and provide a more seamless user experience.
Huawei’s 3CC CA solution is designed to provide an enhanced LTE service experience on wideband frequencies without possession of enough contiguous spectrums.
Meanwhile, chip vendor Qualcomm introduced the world’s first commercial 4G LTE Advanced embedded data connectivity platform with Category 6 download speeds of up to 300 Mbps for mobile computing devices, including thin form factor laptops, tablets and convertibles.
