Two IDC charts showing Samsung growth in smartphone and tablet

IDC has released two device charts showing recent growth. These data clearly shows how Samsung is capturing both smartphone and tablet market share. Apple, Lenovo, LG, Huawei, etc. are the other vendors, who got a place in the third quarter.

Smartphone growth was better than tablet in the third quarter. IDC says the global tablet shipments grew 36.7 percent to 47.6 million units in the third quarter of 2013, while smartphone market grew 38.8 percent year over year in the third quarter of 2013.

In the smartphone market, Samsung maintained its leadership position, shipping more units than the next four vendors combined.

IDC says Samsung once again secured the second position with shipments of about 9.7 million tablets. The company, which owes a measure of its tablet success to its ability to bundle them with other successful Samsung products, such as smartphones and televisions, grabbed 20.4 percent of the worldwide market.
