Adaptxt developer KeyPoint plans research centers in U.S. and China

Adaptxt developer KeyPoint Technologies is planning to set up research and development (R&D) centers in the U.S. and China.

The new R&D centers are in line with the company’s plans to tap these two markets in a big way.

The other market on KeyPoint Technologies’ radar is Taiwan.

The company is planning to expand its resource base in India by 20 percent from the present 110.

The U.K.-based KeyPoint Technologies has offices in India, Japan, China and the U.S.

KeyPoint Technologies’ total employee base is around 180 at present.

“We are on an expansion spree at present. Plans are on to set up new R&D centers in China and the U.S. We will also expand our employee base in India,” said Sumit Goswami, chief executive officer, KeyPoint Technologies UK.

India currently contributes around 10 percent of its revenue, while Korea, which is the base for two leading smartphone companies — Samsung and LG — contributes most revenue to KeyPoint Technologies.

As part of expanding its revenue base, KeyPoint Technologies has already tied up with HCL to integrate its ADAPTXT’s smart keyboard applications. Advanced level talks are on with a couple of other tablet / phone vendors in India.

For each industry, KeyPoint works with linguists to handcraft specialized dictionaries, eliminating the need for Adaptxt users to create their own custom dictionaries for their professions and avoiding the nightmare of dumb autocorrect.

KeyPoint Technologies’ CEO claims that Adaptxt smart keyboard app provides 35 industry-specific dictionaries, a selection that no other stock keyboard or keyboard app can match. The Adaptxt legal dictionary includes more than 6,000 terms.

Adaptxt also offers around 90 language dictionaries. KeyPoint plans to develop additional consumer and enterprise dictionaries this year.
