Vodafone veteran Michel Combes joins Alcatel-Lucent as CEO

Telecom Lead Europe: Vodafone veteran Michel Combes has joined Alcatel-Lucent as the new CEO.

Michel Combes will replace Ben Verwaayen, who stepped down after Alcatel-Lucent reporting net loss in Q4 2012.

Michel Combes has more than 20 years of experience in the telecom industry.


Vodafone veteran Michel Combes joins Alcatel-Lucent as CEO

He was CEO of Vodafone Europe and a board member of Vodafone PLC.

During his career, he has held the positions of chairman and CEO of TDF as well as CFO and senior executive vice president of France Telecom.

As chief executive he will be responsible for delivering sustainable profitability.

He will guide the company to pursue its transformation, while meeting customer needs with innovation.

Alcatel-Lucent has also appointed Jean C Monty as vice chairman of the Board.
