Mindspeed Technologies leads 3GPP small cell market with 63% share: Infonetics

Telecom Lead America: Mindspeed Technologies is leading the 3GPP small cell market with 63 percent share, according to Infonetics Research.

Mindspeed Technologies shipped most for commercial deployment of HSPA small cells.

Mindspeed says it is in pole position in LTE small cells segment with commercial deployments in SK Telecom, Korea Telecom and other operators around the world.

The company has 34 design engagements for LTE and dual-mode small-cells, including OEMs.

The company has deployments in China for TD-SCDMA and announced technical collaboration agreement with China Mobile Research Institute.

Richard Webb, chief analyst of Infonetics, says that it is clear that they have the leadership position in 3G small cells and a strong place in the emerging segment for LTE.

Mindspeed, a SoC company with products for both 3G and LTE, has demonstrated both FDD and TDD versions of LTE.

Raouf Y Halim, chief executive officer, Mindspeed, admits that Mindspeed’s acquisition of Picochip, who had pioneered this market and built a dominant position, assisted the company to extend in 3G and LTE.
