Optelian 100G platform offers 10-fold increase in capacity per wavelength

Telecom Lead America: Optelian has launched 100G platform, providing tenfold increase in capacity per wavelength.

The MPX-9110 provides comprehensive service-delivery capabilities in a standalone 1RU form factor.

In addition, the MPX-9110 can aggregate and transport any mix of 10 Gb/s, 40 Gb/s and 100 Gb/s services over a 100G OTN DWDM wavelength.

When deployed in place of 10 Gb/s wavelengths, the MPX-9110 provides a tenfold increase in capacity per wavelength, enhancing ROI and deferring costly overbuilds. The platform allows network operators to support new services, providing 40G and 100G over existing infrastructure engineered to support 10 Gb/s connections.

100G offers a 30 percent cost-per-bit savings relative to 10G transport strategies. Optelian’s solution enables efficient scalability and supports the rapid deployment and management of new, revenue-generating services.

Optelian CEO David Weymouth says the MPX-9110 is compatible with existing 10 Gb/s networks and offers network operators a comprehensive set of features.

With a 100G network solution using the Optelian MPX-9110 platform, network operators have an effective means to evolve existing 10-Gb/s-based networks to address critical bandwidth requirements while improving performance.  This offers new revenue-generating services and lower operational costs.
