Telecom Lead Asia: Bharti Airtel, at close to 10 percent of the user base, is the most preferred network, according to India’s first ever user-generated data by OTT (Over-The-Top TV) distribution platform, Ditto TV.
The state-run BSNL, at 6.5 percent, follows suit in the 2nd place.
Idea Cellular at 5.5 percent is the 3rd most preferred network.
Vodafone with over 4 percent subscribing to it, leads the Blackberry users.
These findings are collected from over 425,000 Ditto users who have downloaded Ditto TV application to their mobiles, tablets and computers.
According to the data, every third Smartphone user in India uses an Android-based handset to access live entertainment content online while every fifth user prefers a Symbian platform. Blackberry users claim a close third spot, garnering over 17 percent of the OTT viewership space.
The Indian mobile user is not only getting smarter with his gadgets, but also with the content that he chooses to watch.
53 percent Apple users preferred to watch Ten Cricket.
45 percent Android users logged in to Zee TV.
29 percent Blackberry users watched Zee TV whereas Sony followed closely behind with 28 percent.
36 percent Symbian users preferred Zee Cinema.
Symbian and PC users both had a news channel (Aaj Tak) featuring in the top 5 channels list with an average share of 6 percent.
Another popular segment is Comedy, with Sab TV garnering 16 percent share among Symbian users and 8 percent among Android users.
24 percent of the user base subscribed to Zing TV percent for Android users.
The average Android user devotes around 145 minutes per month to watch this content.
Symbian usage in India, on the other hand, is significantly higher. The Indian user clocks in over 272 minutes.

Apple users in India while having a lower penetration still clock up an average 102 minutes
Samsung cornered nearly 47 percent of the market with its Galaxy series, in spite of hundreds of Android-based devices in the market today.
