Pilar Lopez to join Vodafone as Chief Financial Officer from 2025 December

Vodafone Group has announced the appointment of Pilar Lopez as its next Chief Financial Officer (CFO), effective 1 December 2025.

Pilar Lopez will officially take over from Luka Mucic, who will step down from the role and leave Vodafone at the end of November. A transition period will begin from 1 October 2025, during which Pilar Lopez will serve as CFO Designate, working closely with Luka to ensure a smooth handover.

Pilar Lopez brings with her a wealth of experience in the telecoms and technology sectors, having held multiple international leadership positions. She is widely recognized for her strategic financial expertise and deep industry knowledge, making her well-suited to guide Vodafone through the next phase of its transformation.

Background:

Pilar Lopez brings over 30 years of global leadership and finance experience to her role as Group Chief Financial Officer Designate at Vodafone. She joins Vodafone after a decade at Microsoft, where she held top roles including Chief Operating Officer for Western Europe, General Manager for Microsoft Spain, and most recently led Microsoft’s strategic partnership with the London Stock Exchange Group.

Before Microsoft, Pilar Lopez spent 16 years at Telefonica, serving in a range of senior finance roles such as CFO of Telefonica Europe, CFO of O2 Plc, and Global Simplification Director. She also led strategy and business development in Spain and was on the Supervisory Board of Telefonica Germany. Pilar Lopez started her career at J.P. Morgan and currently serves as a Non-Executive Director at Inditex S.A., having previously held a similar role at Ferguson Plc. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Finance from Comillas Pontifical University.

Remuneration:

As Vodafone’s incoming Group CFO, Pilar Lopez’s remuneration package includes:

  • Base Salary: £725,000

  • Annual Bonus: Up to 200% of base salary

  • Long-term Incentive Plan (LTIP): Up to 450% of base salary

  • Pension Allowance: 10% of base salary

  • Car Allowance: £19,200

  • Relocation Support: Includes immigration, housing, and tax advisory assistance in line with Vodafone’s international assignment policy
