Semiconductor sales surge 23.2% to $166 bn in Q3: SIA

Global semiconductor sales have reached $166 billion in Q3 2024, marking a 23.2 percent increase from Q3 2023 and a 10.7 percent rise from Q2 2024.

Leading semiconductor markets are: Americas $17.24 billion (up 16.7 percent), China $16.04 billion (up 6.3 percent), Asia Pacific/All Other $13.40 billion (up 10.3 percent), Europe $4.43 billion (5.9 percent) and Japan $4.21 (up 11.5 percent) in Q3 2024.

September sales hit $55.3 billion, a 4.1 percent month-over-month increase, setting a new all-time monthly high for the semiconductor industry.

Americas led with a 46.3 percent increase.

China followed with a 22.9 percent increase, while Asia Pacific/All Other regions rose by 18.4 percent, and Japan by 7.7 percent.

Europe was the only region experiencing a decline, with an 8.2 percent drop.

From August to September, semiconductor sales grew in all regions, led by Japan (5.3 percent) and Asia Pacific/All Other (4.5 percent).

According to SIA President John Neuffer, this was the most significant quarterly growth in the sector since 2016, with the U.S. market playing a pivotal role in the global semiconductor industry.
