Top 10 smartphone suppliers in second-quarter

The latest Omdia report has revealed the top 10 smartphone suppliers during the second-quarter of 2024.

Top 10 Smartphone vendors Q2 2024

The top 10 smartphone suppliers in terms of number of smartphone shipped are: Samsung (53.7 million units), Apple (45.6 million), Xiaomi (42.3 million), Vivo (26 million), Transsion (25.5 million), Oppo (25.2 million), Honor (15.5 million), Motorola (13.5 million), Realme (12.3 million), and Huawei (11.7 million) in Q2.

Smartphone market share of top 10 smartphone suppliers: Samsung (18 percent), Apple (16 percent), Xiaomi (15 percent), Vivo (9 percent), Transsion (9 percent), Oppo (9 percent), Honor (5 percent), Motorola (5 percent), Realme (4 percent), and Huawei (4 percent) in Q2.

Omdia said smartphone shipment rose 9.3 percent to 290.3 million units in 2Q24.

Many smartphone makers — Xiaomi, vivo, Motorola, Realme and Huawei – have recorded large double-digit growth. Apple and Transsion achieved moderate growth. Transsion has recorded 4.1 percent growth.

Samsung is facing challenges particularly in the $250-$600 mid-end price segment, where it generates most of its shipments.

Apple’s shipments in China decreased compared to the same period last year.

“Recently, the smartphone market has been experiencing accelerated polarization, with the mid-range market shrinking while the proportion of low-end and high-end markets is increasing,” said Jusy Hong, Senior Research Manager in Omdia’s Smartphone group.

Vivo rose from sixth to fourth position in the ranking of shipment volume, placing them ahead Transsion and Oppo.

Transsion is expected to exceed 100 million units for the first time in 2024, as it further establishes its smartphone brands (iTel, Infinix and Tecno) within emerging markets.

“Much of Transsion’s success is due to a booming market for low-end devices and aggressive expansion into India, Pakistan and Russia.” said Zaker Li, Principal Analyst, Omdia.

Motorola maintained its strong performance recording 13.5 million units – a 29.2 percent increase from 2Q24. This growth has propelled Motorola up the smartphone OEM shipment rankings from ninth to eighth place, reclaiming this position from Huawei.

Realme’s recovery in sales in the Indian market led to an increase in overall shipments.

Huawei’s remarkable recovery from its 2021 decline is driven by successive quarterly growth, and the launches of the Mate 60 Pro and the Pura 70 series.
