Vodafone forms new operating regions in Europe, appoints new regional CEOs

Telecom Lead Europe: Vodafone Group has established two
new operating regions, Northern & Central Europe and Southern Europe.

 

The group has also appointed Philipp Humm as chief
executive of Northern & Central Europe, and Paolo Bertoluzzo as chief
executive of Southern Europe.

 

 “Our new regional structure will underpin our
strategy focused on meeting our customers’ long-term needs, and Paolo and
Philipp will be strong additions to the Vodafone Group Executive Committee,”
said Vittorio Colao, chief executive at Vodafone Group.

 

Philipp Humm has joined Vodafone Group from T-Mobile USA,
where he was serving as president and CEO since 2010. His appointment at
Vodafone will come into effect from 1 October 2012.

 

Speaking on his appointment, Philipp Humm said,
“Vodafone is a powerful brand with a strong focus on the customer coupled
with a clear strategy for growth. I look forward to joining the team”.

 

On the other hand, Paolo Bertoluzzo will take over the
new role of Chief Executive for the Southern Europe region effective 1 August
2012.He will also continue in his role as Chief Executive of Vodafone Italy.

 

 Paolo Bertoluzzo joined Vodafone in 1999 and was
appointed Chief Executive of Vodafone Italy in 2008. I welcome the opportunity
to lead such an important part of Vodafone Group’s global portfolio through
this challenging period,” said Paolo Bertoluzzo.

 

The Northern & Central Europe region comprises
Germany, UK, Netherlands, Turkey, Ireland, Hungary, Czech Republic and
Romania.

 

The Southern Europe region consists of Italy, Spain,
Portugal, Greece, Albania and Malta.

 

Vodafone group revenue up 1.2% FY11-12

 

Recently, Vodafone group posted 1.2 percent increase in
revenues to 46.4 billion euro for the year ended March 31, 2012, against 45.8
billion euro for the year ended March 31, 2011.

 

Capex stood at 6.3 billion euro for 2012, up 2.3 percent,
as compared to 6.2 billion for 2011.
