MTS has launched the first Russian integrated Smart City pilot project based on the NB-IoT network (Narrow Band IoT), designed to help the housing and utilities sector in the city of Arsk, Republic of Tatarstan.
MTS will provide NB-IoT coverage together with integrated services for smart devices in all large cities across Russia by the end of 2018.
MTS in a blog post said it is the first mobile operator to deploy a Russia-wide network for IoT services and devices based on NB-IoT technology.
MTS in association with its partners is piloting five innovative solutions in Arsk.

MTS launched the Smart City pilot project as part of the agreement between MTS and the Arsky municipal district signed in April 2018 within Digital Economy state program in Tatarstan.
MTS and Ericsson tested the solutions at their joint Innopolis R&D Center. Ericsson is also assisting MTS for its 5G trials in Russia.
