Maxis has revealed that its Capex investment surged 33.9 percent to RM241 million during the second quarter of 2022, despite uncertainty in 5G network roll outs in Malaysia.
Maxis announced its 5G Alliance last month with 16 members including Advantech, Amdocs, CrescoNet, Cisco, Google Cloud, GSMA, Huawei, LLVision, Microsoft, MIMOS, Motorola Solutions, NEC, Omron, Realwear, SAS, and Vodafone.
Maxis has made heavy investments to deliver the best converged network performance and customer experience. Maxis said contributions to JENDELA’s Universal Service Provision (USP) fund was recorded at about RM250 million in the first half of 2022.

Maxis reported that its service revenue increased 4.3 percent to RM2.084 billion, while EBITDA rose 0.8 percent to RM1.014 billion in Q2 2022.
Maxis said service revenue increased 4.3 percent to RM2.084 billion, due to contributions from both its Consumer and Enterprise Businesses.
Maxis Enterprise Business revenue rose 4 percent to RM386 million, thanks to its strength in mobile.
Maxis Consumer Business revenue rose 4.4 percent to RM1.698 billion.
Subscribers for its Postpaid segment recorded 7.5 percent growth, bringing the total number of postpaid subscriptions to 3.2 million.
Prepaid segment had the highest ARPU in 18 months, at RM39.10, due to increased internet spend encouraged by the introduction of new internet passes of HotlinkMU.
Maxis Home Connectivity was up by 18.1 percent, leading to a 19.4 percent growth in revenue. Home connections increased by 3.7 percent QoQ, translating into 23k additional connections for the quarter, bringing the total Maxis home fiber connections to 638k. This is attributable to a combined success of Maxis’ strong distribution channel strategy and marketing efforts.
