Ericsson to launch the first 5G Life Campus in Belgium

Ericsson and 5G Life Campus in HasseltEricsson will be launching the first 5G Life Campus located at Corda Campus, a technology park, in Hasselt, Belgium.

Ericsson, a leading telecom equipment maker based in Sweden, earlier predicted that there will be 1 billion 5G subscriptions in 2023.

5G Life Campus will be connected to Ericsson’s R&D center in Aachen, Germany, where 5G development and international pilot projects are executed.

Ericsson and Corda Campus are jointly implementing the first Belgian 5G Life Campus to provide a test environment to develop and trial new applications, potentially years ahead of the expected commercial launch of 5G in Belgium.

“Ericsson and Corda Campus will engage Belgian enterprises to be key players in the development of 5G, helping to speed up industrial digitalization in the country and Europe,” said Saskia Van Uffelen, country manager of Ericsson Belgium and Luxembourg.

This 5G Life Campus, which will go live in the first quarter of 2018, is part of the 5G for Europe program launched by Ericsson and industries and institutes across Europe.
