Deutsche Telekom has announced that Dr. Abdurazak Mudesir, currently serving as Chief Technology Officer (CTO), will succeed Claudia Nemat as the Member of the Board of Management responsible for Technology and Innovation. His appointment will take effect on October 1, 2025, marking a new chapter in the company’s leadership as it continues to drive technological innovation and network modernization.

Dr. Abdurazak Mudesir, 43, brings with him over 15 years of experience in the technology sector. He currently holds a dual role as Managing Director Technology at Telekom Deutschland GmbH and Group CTO of Deutsche Telekom AG. Throughout his tenure, he has played a pivotal role in shaping the company’s technological vision — leading the expansion of Deutsche Telekom’s fiber-optic network, which now boasts over 10.5 million connections, and achieving more than 98 percent 5G coverage across Germany.
His leadership has been instrumental in spearheading key future-oriented technologies, including Open RAN, cloud infrastructure, and AI-driven network control. Under his guidance, the integration of AI into network operations has resulted in major improvements in power quality, energy efficiency, and service automation—paving the way for an increasingly autonomous telecommunications infrastructure.
Dr. Abdurazak Mudesir’s academic background includes a doctorate in computer science and electrical engineering from the International University Bremen (2010), along with an Executive MBA from Stanford University. His professional journey began at Altran Technologies in 2010, followed by a move to Huawei in 2012. Since joining Deutsche Telekom in 2018, he has steadily advanced through key leadership roles, contributing significantly to the group’s innovation agenda both in Germany and internationally.
Dr. Claudia Nemat, 56, who has been on Deutsche Telekom’s Board of Management since 2011, announced earlier that she would not renew her contract upon its expiration in 2025. Over her 14-year tenure, she has been a transformative force, driving the digitalization of networks, advancing 5G rollout, strengthening supply chains, and shaping the company’s global AI strategy.
Dr. Frank Appel, Chairman of the Supervisory Board, praised Claudia Nemat’s contributions: “Claudia Nemat has played a decisive role in shaping Deutsche Telekom’s culture and performance in recent years. Her impact will be felt for years to come.”
Looking ahead, Claudia Nemat plans to focus on a portfolio of entrepreneurial endeavors, including serving on international supervisory boards and corporate governance bodies.
With Dr. Abdurazak Mudesir stepping into this critical role, Deutsche Telekom aims to continue its trajectory as a global leader in next-generation telecommunications, powered by innovation, digital resilience, and a vision for the autonomous networks of the future.
