China Mobile today revealed that its capital expenditure for 2020 was RMB 180.6 billion focusing mainly on the expansion of 5G network.
China Mobile said its 5G subscriber base touched 165 million last year as compared with 2.55 million in the previous year.
China Mobile achieved operating revenue of RMB768.1 billion in the 2020 financial year, up by 3 percent compared to the year before. Telecom services revenue amounted to RMB695.7 billion, representing growth of 3.2 percent year-on-year.
Mobile ARPU (average revenue per user per month) reached RMB47.4 where the decline rate was flattened by 4.0 percentage points compared to the previous year.
5G
China Mobile’s 5G-related investment amounted to RMB 102.5 billion in 2020. In addition, China Mobile said its cloud-based and centralized standalone (SA) core network commenced operations in September 2020.
China Mobile built around 340,000 new 5G base stations, bringing the total number of 5G base stations to 390,000, providing 5G services to all prefecture-level cities, selected counties and key areas in China.
China Mobile said it owns the largest 5G SA commercial network and occupy a leading position in terms of network technology in the world.
