AT&T, which made a capital investment of $6.4 billion in Q1 2023, said it achieved improvement in ARPU thanks to focus on 5G and fiber expansion.

AT&T’s mobility postpaid phone ARPU reached $55.05, up $1.05 or nearly 2 percent year-over-year.

ARPU growth of postpaid phone customers remains largely driven by higher ARPU on legacy plans from last year’s pricing actions, a continued mix shift to higher-value rate plans and a continued improvement in consumer international rolling trends.

AT&T revealed that its postpaid phone churn remains low at 0.81 percent — largely due to the consistent investment to build a fast and reliable 5G network.

AT&T added 40,000 prepaid phone customers. AT&T’s total prepaid churn was below 3 percent, driven by loyalty from Cricket customers who stayed as a result of value and reliability.

AT&T added 272,000 fiber customers in the first quarter. AT&T has 7.5 million fiber subscribers at the end of March, 2023.

AT&T’s Broadband revenues grew by more than 7 percent, including accelerated fiber revenue growth of more than 30 percent.

AT&T’s Fiber ARPU reached $65.92, up more than $1 sequentially, with ARPU for new fiber customers at about $70. Customers are choosing to take advantage of the benefits offered by faster speed tiers, which is also supporting ARPU growth.
