5G speed of SK Telecom, KT and LG U+ in South Korea

Opensignal has revealed the 5G speed experience of 5G smartphone users across three cities in South Korea.
5G Download Speed in South KoreaPreviously, Opensignal has reported that 5G smartphone users’ average 5G speeds were 5.6 times faster than 4G speeds.

In Seoul, Incheon and Busan the average 5G Download Speed was in excess of 300 Mbps on all three mobile operators – SK Telecom, KT and LG U+.

In Seoul, LG U+’s 5G users had the highest average 5G Download Speed with 363.7 Mbps. SK Telecom’s 5G customers also had the highest average 5G Download Speed with 363.7 Mbps. KT users achieved 5G speeds of 329.3 Mbps.

The difference between the highest 5G Download Speed and the lowest is 10.4 percent compared with a 43.5 percent difference in the national Download Speed Experience result in its last country report.
5G Availability in South Korea
In Busan, the fastest average 5G Download Speed was on SK telecom with 374.9 Mbps.

The time 5G users spend connected to 5G — 5G Availability — is high in South Korea’s cities compared with other countries.

In each city, 5G smartphone users connected to 5G over one fifth of the time. In Seoul, on both SK Telecom and LG U+, users connected over 30 percent of the time. The results for 5G Availability in Seoul for SK telecom and LG U+ was a statistical tie.

In both Incheon and Busan, SK Telecom’s 5G smartphone users enjoyed the highest 5G Availability with scores of 30.8 percent and 28.9 percent respectively. LG U+ and KT users still see 5G Availability scores of more than 20 percent in both cities, and also tie for second place.
