Telecom network operator Vodafone India on Thursday announced the launch of 4G services in Thane and Kalyan district of Mumbai.
Besides Mumbai, Vodafone 4G services are already present in Kerala, Karnataka, Kolkata and Delhi & NCR.
Thane and Kalyan districts of Mumbai which constitute over 20 percent of the customer base of Vodafone India.
Vodafone has made investment in 1800 MHz spectrum to offer 4G services on Mobile Wi-Fi dongles and 4G smartphones.
Vodafone 4G is useful for faster download and upload of videos and music and video chats. 4G users can also benefit from high definition video streaming, mobile gaming and two-way video calling.
Vodafone has invested in fiber backhaul of 100G for offering 4G service in Thane and Kalyan district of Mumbai.
Ishmeet Singh, business head – Mumbai, Vodafone India, said, “Mumbai is a strong market for Vodafone India with data contributing around 30 percent of total revenues.”
Vodafone has already started offering 4G services in five circles: Kerala, Karnataka, Mumbai, Delhi & NCR and Kolkata, which today contribute close to 50 percent of Vodafone India data revenues.
