Vodafone Idea main facts about financial performance in Oct-Dec 2024

Vodafone Idea has reported a revenue of ₹111.2 billion for Q3FY25, reflecting a QoQ growth of 1.7 percent.

Vodafone Idea’s customer revenue rose by 1.6 percent compared to the previous quarter, supported by tariff hikes implemented across private operators.

Vodafone Idea’s reported EBITDA for the quarter stood at ₹47.1 billion, while cash EBITDA, excluding the impact of Ind AS 116, reached ₹24.5 billion, marking its highest level since the merger with a 5.4 percent QoQ growth.

Capex spending of Vodafone Idea for the October-December quarter was ₹32.1 billion, bringing the total capex for the first nine months of FY25 to ₹53.3 billion. The company expects to accelerate its network rollout further in Q4FY25, with a full-year capex target of approximately ₹100 billion.

Over the last nine months, Vodafone Idea expanded its 4G population coverage by 41 million, reaching 1.07 billion by December 2024, compared to 1.03 billion in March 2024. During the period, 4G data capacity increased by 24 percent, driving a 28 percent improvement in 4G speeds.

The company aims to achieve 4G population coverage of 1.1 billion by March 2025 and further expand to 1.2 billion, covering nearly 90 percent of the population. The 4G subscriber base stood at 126 million at the end of Q3FY25, up from 125.6 million in Q3FY24.

ARPU (excluding M2M) improved to ₹173, compared to ₹166 in Q2FY25, reflecting a 4.7 percent QoQ growth, driven by tariff hikes and customer upgrades.

Vodafone Idea is aiming for the launch of 5G services in Mumbai in March 2025, and Delhi, Bangalore, Chandigarh, and Patna in April 2025.

During the quarter, the company expanded its broadband network by adding more than 4,000 towers, marking the highest quarterly addition since the merger.

Further network improvements included deploying 4G on the sub-GHz 900 MHz band across approximately 15,000 sites, enhancing coverage and indoor network performance. Additionally, around 10,400 sites were added in the 1800 MHz and 2100 MHz bands to improve network capacity and data speeds.

The total broadband site count reached approximately 460,300 as of December 31, 2024, including 75,800 TDD sites, 13,950 Massive MIMO sites, and 12,800 small cells. The LTE 900 network was also expanded to 16 out of 17 priority circles.

Vodafone Idea introduced two new data offerings this quarter. The Super Hero Offering, launched in 12 key markets, provides unlimited data from 12 midnight to 12 noon, in addition to the existing 2GB daily quota.

The Non-Stop Hero Offering, launched in 10 other markets, provides unlimited data for a full 24 hours. These plans aim to enhance the data experience for users, particularly those without access to wired broadband.
