Vodafone Idea, which has 126.72 million mobile Internet customers, will receive real-time, automated monitoring to enable rapid detection and mitigation of endpoint-related security incidents.

The deployment of Nokia NetGuard Endpoint Detection and Response will minimize security gaps, reduce the need for extensive testing, and optimize operational costs, while maintaining continuous service availability and performance of the protected endpoints in the entire Operational Technology (OT) network.

ABI Research says that 5G security software revenues will more than triple in the next five years to $4.6 billion. API-based network exposure, which could be a viable counter to slow 5G network Return on Investment (ROI), presents a major security risk, says Georgia Cooke, Digital Security Research Analyst at ABI Research.

Nokia’s NetGuard EDR’s capabilities will integrate with Vodafone Idea’s security tools and processes, strengthening the operator’s network security and furthering Vodafone Idea’s work of building a Security Operations Center.

The deployment will initially cover Vodafone Idea’s 4G networks, and eventually the operator’s 5G network. Recently, Vodafone Idea said it selected telecom network vendors such as Nokia, Ericsson and Samsung for its 4G and 5G network expansion.

Jagbir Singh, Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at Vodafone Idea, said: “Vodafone Idea is committed to driving the network evolution, ensuring that advanced solutions deliver both connectivity and security.”

Mathan Babu Kasilingam, Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) & Data Privacy Officer at Vodafone Idea said: “With the growing sophistication of cyberattacks on critical infrastructure, Vodafone Idea has prioritized telecom-focused protection for our core subscriber and identity management systems.”

Arvind Khurana, India Market Leader, Cloud and Network Services at Nokia, said, “NetGuard EDR will deliver to Vodafone Idea the advanced threat detection and response capabilities they need to ensure proactive protection against ever-evolving and more sophisticated cyber threats.”
