Singtel offers tri-band 4G with LTE-900 boosting indoor coverage

Singtel has upgraded its telecom network to offer tri-band 4G services with LTE-900 – boosting indoor coverage.

“Demand for data is growing exponentially and we are always looking for ways to improve the mobile experience for our customers. Our goal is to deliver the most reliable and seamless connectivity,” said Diana Chen, VP, Mobile Marketing, Singtel.

Singtel has invested over the past year to improve the quality and extent of coverage, particularly indoor coverage. The telecom operator has also enhanced zones that have been in need of a signal boost.

The company will be offering tri-band 4G services with LTE-900 at more than 400 sites across the Singapore city by March 2016. Parkway Parade, followed by eight other major shopping malls by October this year, will get better mobile coverage for SingTel customers.

Singtel will also increase 4G coverage for residents of newer estates such as Punggol and Sengkang by October. The North-South and East-West underground MRT stations and tunnels will also see improved 4G coverage by the following month.

Singtel has tied up with Samsung to launch a handset which supports tri-band 4G+ allowing maximum mobile surfing speeds of up to 337Mbps.

Singtel will also offer Singtel Premium WiFi at 123 McDonald’s restaurants across the island. The rollout starts with Ang Mo Kio Avenue 3, Nex and Causeway Point and is expected to be completed by the first half of 2016. Customers on Combo plans will then be able to tap into the service at over 600 hotspots.
