NTT DOCOMO slashes LTE network Capex

Capex of NTT Docomo in Dec 2015
NTT DOCOMO last week said its capital expenditures (Capex) decreased by ¥76.8 billion to ¥362.5 billion in Q3 fiscal 2016.

The telecom network operator has made an investment of ¥231 billion in LTE network during the quarter against ¥271.6 billion in the same period previous year.

NTT DOCOMO is aiming to invest ¥353 billion in LTE infrastructure alone during the current financial year. ¥600 billion will be the total Capex of NTT DOCOMO for the current fiscal year.

The number of LTE base stations of NTT DOCOMO reached 126,000 in December quarter. The number of premium 4G base stations increased to 13,500. NTT DOCOMO is looking for the deployment of PREMIUM 4G base stations in 825 cities throughout Japan. It is using enhanced Carrier Aggregation that combines three RF carriers.

The company has expanded 300 Megabit per second service to 538 cities in Japan.

As a result of its investment program, NTT DOCOMO said it added 7.99 million LTE subscribers in the nine months ended December, 2015. The number of LTE subscribers of NTT DOCOMO reached 36.29 million in December 2015 from 28.29 million in December 2014.
