Motorola Mobility extends IPTV set-top roll-out with VimpelCom

Motorola Mobility announced that Russian
telecommunications provider VimpelCom has selected Motorola’s advanced VIP22n2E
series set-tops to expand their roll out of enhanced IPTV services to customers
under its Beeline brand.

The VIP2202 and VIP2262 set-tops allow operators to
expand their subscriber base and grow average revenues per user by offering
consumers rich home entertainment experiences such as personal video recording
(with the VIP2262 model), time shifting, electronic programming guides and HD
content.

In addition, with multi-room functionality and a built in
hard disc, the VIP2262 gives operators the flexibility to offer a raft of new
services – such as on-demand content and Internet via the TV – without having
to invest in expensive back-end and network upgrades.

“Today’s announcement reinforces the synergies
between Motorola and VimpelCom and reflects Motorola’s strong commitment and
focus in Russia,” said Steve McCaffery, vice president and general
manager, Home business, Motorola Mobility.

Motorola Mobility recently announced the launchof
DEFY+. Building on the Motorola DEFY, Motorola DEFY+ offers protection with
water resistant, scratch resistant and dust proof design (IP67).

Motorola DEFY+ has a 1GHz processor that runs 25 percent
faster and is more fun with the latest version of Android 2.3 (Gingerbread)
delivering a smarter operating system and better battery life to fully enjoy
your experiences.
