Mukesh Ambani, chairman of Reliance Jio Infocomm, will be making announcements at the annual general meeting of Reliance Industries (RIL) at 11 am today.

Mukesh Ambani is expected to reveal the company’s budget VoLTE phone for India’s one billion plus mobile users across the country. The strategy is to expand its 4G presence to masses. At present, Jio does not have a strong presence in India’s rural markets.
Recently, Airtel India CEO Gopal Vittal confirmed that the country’s largest telecom operator has already started trials of VoLTE.
The other main announcement from Mukesh Ambani will be about the cost effective broadband for Indian homes. Both BSNL and Airtel are active in the fixed broadband space and competition from Reliance Jio will be forcing them to cut prices and improve quality of services for broadband users.

“We have converted majority of our customers to paid services. They shifted to Rs 309 plans or higher plans in recent months,” Mukesh Ambani said.
Jio has more than 100 million paid 4G subscribers.
India has 78 crore mobile phone users including 50 crore feature phone users. India cannot afford to miss feature phone users.

TRAI’s speed test portal confirms Jio’s speed as the #1 for coverage and speed. Jio will cover 99 percent of India’s population in the next 12 months.
Jio’s 4G coverage will be more than India’s 2G coverage. It took 22 years to build 2G coverage. Jio took just 3 years to build 4G coverage.
Jio is expanding physical distributions in the country. Jio will have 10,000 offices across India to serve channel partners and retail shops which sell Jio 4G SIMS.

Reliance Jio will bring out a VoLTE feature phone made in India.
Isha Ambani and Akash Ambani introduced Jio VoLTE phone to the world. It is cost effective and has the capabilities of a smartphone.
The Jio phone has alpha-numeric keypad, 4-way navigation, compact design, 2.4″ QVGA display, battery and charger, SD card slot, camera, microphone and speaker, headphone jack, call history, phone contact, ringtones, torchlight, FM radio, etc.
Mukesh Ambani said Jio will offer free voice and data for Rs 153 per month. This will be at 1/33th price for current prices.
Mukesh Ambani is offering free VoLTE phones to customers. The company will be collecting Rs 1,500 towards refund deposit. Customers can collect back Rs 1,500 if they return the phone.
