Kineto adds VoLTE support to smart Wi-Fi solution

Telecom Lead America: Kineto Wireless has added IMS-based
voice and messaging capabilities compatible with the GSMA’s VoLTE initiative to
its Smart Wi-Fi smartphone client.

The addition of GSMA’s IMS-based voice and messaging
profile (IR.92) enables the Kineto Smart Wi-Fi client to use existing Wi-Fi
access points to provide coverage to smartphone subscribers when they are at
home or in the office.

With VoLTE support in the Smart Wi-Fi client, ordinary
Wi-Fi access points become LTE small cells, bringing indoor coverage and
capacity to macro LTE network deployments.

Adding IMS voice and messaging support to our Smart
Wi-Fi client lets mobile operators quickly extend VoLTE services to their
customers over Wi-Fi, turning existing access points in the home and office
into LTE small cells,” said Steve Shaw, vice president of corporate marketing
for Kineto Wireless.

Kineto’s Smart Wi-Fi client runs on more than 10 million
smartphones. It delivers hundreds of millions of mobile voice minutes a month
over Wi-Fi. With Smart Wi-Fi, subscribers receive a consistent voice and
messaging experience regardless of the underlying network.

Kineto customers and partners include HTC, Huawei, LG
Electronics, Motorola, Orange, RIM, Rogers Wireless, SFR, Samsung, T-Mobile and
ZTE.
