Cisco reveals transport network deal with Vodafone Idea

Cisco said Vodafone Idea (Vi) will deploy a Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS)-based transport network powered by Cisco.

By integrating Cisco’s MPLS solution, Vi will enhance robustness of its network infrastructure. Vi aims to efficiently manage high volumes of data traffic, offering consumers and businesses an improved level of network performance and stability.

Vodafone Idea will be leveraging Cisco’s networking solutions to streamline network operations, reduce costs, and accelerate service innovation through dynamic, software-driven management.

Jagbir Singh, CTO at Vi, said: “Cisco’s expertise in MPLS solutions will empower our network to automate critical network functions, optimize traffic management, and adapt to changing market demands. This transport network is designed to meet the challenges of modern network environments, ensuring high performance, reliability, and security.”

Cisco’s focus on India is reinforced through its strategic collaboration with Vodafone Idea (Vi), one of the country’s leading telecom operators, Gordon Thomson, Vice President, Service Provider – EMEA, Cisco, said.

Vodafone Idea’s strategy centers around modernizing its network to handle the increasing demands of data consumption and digital connectivity. This move supports Vi’s goal of delivering faster internet speeds, improved video streaming, online gaming, and high-quality digital services.
