Airtel reveals investment plans for Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh

Airtel India revenue Q2Bharti Airtel plans to add over 9,500 new mobile broadband sites and 4,000 kms of optic fiber across Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh in FY 2018-19.

The number of mobile sites of Airtel in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh would go up by 30 percent to 26,000, enhancing its network capabilities with regard to data speed and voice quality.

The addition of optic fiber would extend Airtel’s fiber backbone to 22,000 KMs, supporting the growth of high speed data services in the region.

Airtel during 2017-18 added over 5,200 new sites across Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, expanding mobile broadband coverage to 34,000 towns and villages.

“We will continue to invest aggressively in the region and take our network capabilities to the next level deploying over 26,000 mobile sites by the end of this financial year,” Dharmender Khajuria, chief executive officer – Madhya Pradesh & Chhattisgarh, said.
