The latest OpenSignal report has revealed the leading telecom operators who excel in terms of 4G download speed, video experience, 4G upload speed, 4G availability and 4G latency in India.
Airtel, India’s leading mobile operator with 2G, 3G and 4G network presence, is the leader in 4G download speed, video experience and 4G latency, the OpenSignal report said on November 1.
Airtel in a statement said the pace of the network deployment and investment has picked up over the last 90 days.
“This is allowing us to win 4G customers in the top 500 cities in India. We use the best telecom technologies and tools to deliver India’s decisively best network and sustain our leadership,” Randeep Sekhon, CTO of Bharti Airtel, said.
Bharti Airtel is the leader in 4G download speed. Airtel’s 4G customers clocked an average download speed of 9.96 Mbps, OpenSignal said. Vodafone customers received an average download speed of 6.59 Mbps. Idea Cellular customers received an average download speed of 6.29 Mbps. Jio customers received an average download speed of 5.47 Mbps on its all-India 4G network.
Idea Cellular is the leader in 4G upload speed. Idea Cellular’s smartphone customers received 4G upload speed of 3.97 Mbps. Vodafone customers received 4G upload speed of 3.03 Mbps, the report said. Airtel customers received 4G upload speed of 2.56 Mbps. Reliance Jio users received 4G upload speed of 1.58 Mbps.
Reliance Jio is the leader in 4G availability with 96.7 percent. The 4G availability for Airtel customers was 73.99 percent. 4G availability for Idea Cellular customers was 73.17 percent. 4G availability for Vodafone customers was 72.59 percent.
Airtel is the leader in overall video experience. The video experience score for Airtel was 39.3 (measured in 0-100). Reliance Jio has video experience score of 38.63. Vodafone has scored 38.55 for video experience. Idea Cellular has 28.25 video experience score. BSNL’s video experience score was 28.25.
Airtel is the leader in 4G latency in India. Airtel customers observed 4G latency of 68.33 percent. The 4G latency for Vodafone customers was 70.19 percent. 4G latency for Jio users was 72.20 percent. Idea Cellular’s 4G latency was 76.88 percent.
OpenSignal said there was a three-way tie in its mobile video experience analysis, as Airtel, Jio and Vodafone all came within a point of each other.
Jio’s 4G availability score grew from 96.4 percent to 96.7 percent.
Airtel kept its download speed experience crown, surging further ahead with over 25 percent growth in measurements in the past six months.
The OpenSignal State of Mobile Networks report is based on the analysis of more than 10.5 billion measurements from 1.7 million devices in the 90 days from 01 June 2018.
Regions
Airtel dominated download speed experience regional awards, coming top in 16 circles and drawing in two others.
Jio dominated 4G availability analysis, coming top in all 22 telecoms circles. The operator scored over 95 percent in our 4G Availability measurements in all regions, and topped 97 percent in 10 of them, including the Kolkata metro circle.
Jio was the leader in latency experience in India’s regions, winning in 17 circles and drawing in a further two.
Idea was the leading operator in upload speed experience in India’s regions, winning in 10 circles and drawing in a further six.
