By TelecomLead Team: At the Mobile World Congress, Airspan Networks, a provider
of 4G broadband wireless access networks, launched AirCore, their LTE
Evolved Packet Core (EPC) solution.
The LTE EPC solution helps carriers control customer access
to the LTE network as well as manage the data flow, mobility and service
quality.
AirCore gives network operators the ability to deploy the right
combination of products to get the right coverage, capacity and services based
on their particular data traffic needs, topographies and business plans.
AirCore can support smaller footprints and then be easily scaled to support
larger networks as the user base grows.
“The inherent intelligence of our EPC solution will
enable operators to run more efficient, cost-effective networks that deliver
the throughput and services their customers require,” said Uzi Shalev, Airspan
chief operating officer. “We have incorporated leading internal and third party
technology into this solution including the innovative ‘EPC’ software framework
from Aricent to support the ‘network-in-a-box’ functionality for both large and
small LTE networks.”
Important components of AirCore include Mobility Management
Entity (MME), Serving Gateway (SGW), PDN Gateway (PGW), Home Subscriber Server
(HSS), and Policy and Charging Rules Function (PCRF). All these elements work
together in a single platform to provide carriers ‘network-in-a-box’
functionality for an easy to manage network.
The EPC solution supports lower-latency, higher-throughput
and lower-cost voice and data services. It allows operators to determine the
treatment of service IP packets in line with their technical and commercial
goals.
AirCore offers a low-footprint LTE mobility platform with
support up to 200K simultaneous subscribers; superior performance-to-price
ratio; support for fixed, mobile and nomadic subscribers and broad LTE
and LTE- Advanced interface support, among other features. The solution
interworks with legacy (2G, 3G and non-3GPP) systems and maintains seamless
mobility.
Airspan is displaying the solution at the Mobile World
Congress, Barcelona, Spain.
