At least 84 percent of the current Reliance Jio users are expected to subscribe to its Prime membership in April, a survey conducted by Bank of America Merrill Lynch said.
Bank of America Merrill Lynch has surveyed 1,000 Jio users online to gauge trends. At present, Jio has more than 100 million 4G subscribers on its mobile Internet network. Jio started offering free voice and data services from September 2016.
“With all the caveats that accompany surveys in a country as large as India, the results are stark: 84 percent of Jio users we surveyed suggest they will subscribe to the Prime offer,” the survey said.
The survey said 70 percent of these prefer the Rs 303 per month plan. The Rs 303 plan from Reliance Jio offers free voice, free roaming and 30 GB data per month.
The report stated that the proportion of users that suggest Jio is (for the moment) their primary SIM has increased (compared to a December survey) from 50 percent to 66 percent.
The report said awareness of Jio Prime offer is high (90 percent) and 96 percent suggest they will pay for Jio (84 percent through the Prime offer, and 12 percent on non-Prime plans).
Jio’s 4G users, according to the survey, report a significant improvement in voice call connectivity — only 19 percent said it was very difficult to get through to other networks versus 34 percent in December.
