Huawei ships 64.21 million devices in H1 2014

Huawei today said its Consumer Business Group (BG) shipped 64.21 million devices during the first half of 2014.

Smartphones shipments rose 62 percent to 34.27 million units – supported by the growth of Mate 2 4G and Ascend P7.

In Q2 2014, Huawei smartphone shipments rose 85 percent to 20.56 million to markets in Asia, Latin America, the Middle East and Africa.

Huawei posted shipment growth of 550 percent in the Middle East and Africa, 275 percent in Latin America, 180 percent in Asia-Pacific and 120 percent in Europe.

Huawei also held majority smartphone market share in selected markets in Asia and Latin America.

IDC on Tuesday ranked Huawei as the third largest smartphone vendor based on the shipments during the second quarter of 2014, below Samsung and Apple. Huawei is ahead of Lenovo and LG.

Research from Kantar Worldpanel ComTech said Huawei’s smartphone sales increased 123 percent in five major European markets, including the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Italy and Spain in the last 12 months.

Huawei currently holds 3 percent market share in Germany and Spain, and aims to increase this to 5 percent in the near future.

In the second half of the year, Huawei will be further enhancing association with telecommunication carriers, open market and online sales channels.

It will bring new premium mid- to high-end flagship 4G LTE-enabled smart devices and wearables in H2 2014.
