Deutsche Telekom and Qunnect Prove Quantum Signals Can Run on Existing Fiber

T-Labs (part of Deutsche Telekom) and Qunnect ran a test in Berlin. They sent quantum signals (entangled photons) through 30 km of normal telecom fiber for 17 days. The signals stayed strong with 99 percent quality. In a second test, they sent the same kind of signals over 82 km while also sending regular data. The quantum signals stayed at 92 percent quality. This shows telecom fiber can carry both normal data and quantum signals. These quantum systems can help make secure networks, accurate clocks, and better industrial sensors.

Apple Moves iPhones by Air from India to U.S. to Avoid Tariffs

In March, Apple shipped $2 billion worth of iPhones from India to the U.S. using airplanes. This move came just before new U.S. tariffs took effect, Reuters news report said. iPhone supplier Foxconn  shipped $1.31 billion, and Tata Electronics shipped $612 million. The phones were flown out of Chennai and landed in cities like Chicago, New York, and Los Angeles. Apple worked with airport officials to speed up customs from 30 hours to 6 hours.

The Malaysian government has told telecom companies to fix Internet problems every month, state by state. This is part of a 6-Way 4G network-sharing agreement. The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) will check coverage data and tell telecom companies what to fix each month. The aim is to improve coverage, especially in rural areas like Orang Asli villages.

Phone.com Connects Mobile Phones to Business System with ProSIM

Phone.com, working with Tango Networks, has released ProSIM. It links a mobile phone to a company’s UCaaS (Unified Communications as a Service) system using eSIM and the phone’s cellular network. Employees can use personal phones for work calls and texts. The calls go through the Phone.com system, not personal networks. The system keeps everything together — calls, messages, and settings — and meets compliance rules like HIPAA.

AIS vs True: Telecom Competition in Thailand

In Thailand, AIS and True are getting ready for the spectrum auction in May 2025, which will affect the 5G network and other tech in the country. AIS is expanding into digital finance, data centers, and cloud services, and is planning to enter the virtual banking market with Krungthai Bank and PTT Oil and Retail Business. True is focused on growing its telecom and digital services and is also planning to enter the virtual banking market. The auction will be key for both companies as they compete in the 5G market and offer new services.
