Telecom Lead America: Genband is helping Zain Group to support the launch of its IP eXchange (IPX) interconnect and wholesale voice operation.
Earlier this year BT also chose Genband’s Smart Edge IP Exchange solution to expand the reach of its Global IP Interconnect (GIPX) services to wholesale customers across Asia and the Americas region.
Zain Group operates across eight markets in the Middle East and North Africa. Genband’s SMART EDGE solutions consist of the QUANTiX Q20 Session Border Controller (SBC) and GENView Real-time Session Manager (RSM) which enable Zain to offer advanced new multimedia services across its existing voice and data infrastructure.
Zain Group aims to become a major IPX hub operator. Combining its significant organic traffic from existing customers with Genband’s session management capabilities, the company’s wholesale voice network will take advantage of Genband’s wireless technology and coverage in their countries of operation.
The Smart Edge solution is a crucial part of Zain Group’s rollout of carrier-grade, wholesale voice infrastructure across the Middle East. The QUANTiX Q20 will be installed in multiple locations to provide Zain a solution that is easy to deploy and cost efficient to operate.
GENView’s RSM software is running on the geo-redundant QUANTiX Q20s. The software eases day-to-day administration while routing voice sessions to maximize revenue streams.
