Zain invests in neXgen to start smart city business

Telecom network operator Zain Group has made a strategic investment in neXgen Group, a smart city consulting services provider in the UAE, to start a new business unit for tapping smart city opportunities.

Zain Group will start a new business unit for delivering smart city services to governments and mega real estate developers in the Middle East and Africa.

Zain Group Chairman Asaad Al Banwan, Zain Group CEO Scott Gegenheimer, neXgen MD Ghazi Atallah made the announcement at the Mobile World Congress (MWC 2016).

As part of the long-term strategy, Zain Group will deliver smart city solutions and managed services and will include design and integration for applications including smart living in city districts, smart safety and security, smart education and health, and smart metering for the utility sector among others.
