Vodafone Red Shield is currently available for Vodafone RED post paid customers across India. The device protection offers theft cover and basic handset damage cover to customers.

The Vodafone Red Shield app, available at Google Store and iOS, offers a free security solution to smart phone devices. In addition to the theft cover, Vodafone Red Shield comes with malware protection and other security features. Vodafone said this insurance cover is provided through New India Assurance Company.

Vodafone will be responsible for the premium amount. Customers need to pay annual subscription of Rs 720. This amount will be debited to the customer’s monthly bill through 12 installments of Rs 60 each. The validity of Vodafone Red Shield is one year.

Vodafone Red Shield customers can claim insurance cover up to two times in a single year. Vodafone said its customers can download Vodafone Red Shield and sms DSS to 199 from their handset. The app will diagnose the mobile handset and approve if it matches the criteria.

Vodafone said the claim process will be simple. Users can initiate the claim process through a phone call, sms, email or logging on to the claim registration portal. VODAFONE RED SHIELD facilitates door to door pick-up and drop facilities to repair damaged devices, or customers can walk in to the service centre, or courier the device to Vodafone.
