Vodafone invests Rs 250 crore to expand network in Bihar & Jharkhand

Vodafone India has invested more than Rs 250 crore to expand its telecom network and distribution in Bihar & Jharkhand circle between April 2014 and March 2015.

Vodafone has added more than 1,250 new sites across the region, including more than 130 sites in Dhanbad. Vodafone now covers over 33500 towns and villages.

Vodafone has more than 9,000 2G sites in Bihar & Jharkhand circle covering over 79 percent of the population. Vodafone 3G through an Intra Circle Roaming arrangement with other operators reaches out to additional 2500 towns and villages.
Vodafone to expand rural network
The telecom operator has clocked 70 percent increase in data revenues. Data now contributes to 7 percent of total service revenues in the Bihar & Jharkhand circle.

Vodafone has more than 415 retail outlets in Bihar & Jharkhand, including 6 Vodafone stores, 121 Vodafone Mini Stores and 288 ADVMS (rural mini stores). In FY 14-15, Vodafone has added 3 VS and 19 VMS in the region.

Vodafone M-Pesa has 5,300 agents and customer base of 275,000 after launching the mobile money services in April 2013.
