Vodafone Idea CTO Vishant Vora resigned

Vishant Vora, chief technology officer (CTO) of Vodafone Idea, has stepped down from his role, amid significant cut in Capex and network quality issues.
Vi mobile network in IndiaVishant Vora became Vodafone Idea’s CTO in 2018. Before the latest role, he worked as director – Technology with Vodafone India, since July 2010.

Vodafone Idea recently completed the integration of its network, following the merger of Vodafone India with Idea Cellular. Smartphone customers on the Vodafone Idea network is currently facing significant network quality issues.

Vishant Vora he was also vice-president and CTO of Vodafone Romania for nearly 11 years. Vishant Vora had also worked with Millicom as CTO and Sprint PCS as a director.

Vodafone Idea earlier said it is planning to invest around Rs 20,000 crore in networks over the next 15 months.

Vodafone Idea also said that consolidation of Vodafone and Idea network has substantially enhanced its 4G capacity with deployment of latest technologies through which it has been able to deploy 4G in radiowaves that were earlier being used for 3G.

Fitch Ratings recently said Vodafone Idea will gradually lose market share given its weak balance sheet and limited financial flexibility. Vodafone Idea will likely lose 50 million-70 million subscribers in the next 12 months. It lost about 155 million subscribers in the last nine quarters.
