Vodafone Group terminates proposal to merge with Melita

vodafone groupVodafone Group announced it has terminated the proposed merger between Vodafone Malta and Melita.

Vodafone Group, Apax Partners Midmarket SAS and Fortino Capital had announced their intention to combine Vodafone Malta with Melita to create a fully integrated communications company in Malta.

Sine then the parties have been trying to get approval from the Maltese Competition Authority (the MCCAA). However, the parties are now unable to satisfy the MCCAA’s requirements and consequently they have decided to terminate the transaction and withdraw the notification, Vodafone said in a statement.
