Vodafone CEO Vittorio Colao demands more from India

Vodafone CEO Vittorio Colao may meet FM in Dec to discuss tax disputeVodafone Group CEO Vittorio Colao today discussed several issues with Indian telecom minister Manoj Sinha.

Last week, Vodafone emerged as the top telecom operator in India to bid for 4G spectrum during the spectrum auction conducted by the India Government.

Currently, Vodafone is evaluating options for an initial public offering (IPO) in India by diluting a part of the 100 percent stake owned by Vodafone Group, the UK-based telecom giant.

“I thank the minister and the Government for introducing several progressive policies and practices over the last couple of years, including the first mega spectrum auction which will enable us to quickly roll out 4G services in more circles,” said Vodafone Group CEO Vittorio Colao.

Vittorio Colao also said the telecom network operator will be expanding M-pesa, the mobile money service, in India.

Predictable telecom policy regime with a level playing field and a fair application of GST and other levies are the key demands of Vittorio Colao.
