VimpelCom names Jean-Yves Charlier as CEO, Jo Lunder resigned

VimpelCom Group Chief Executive Officer Jo Lunder has decided to step down. SFR veteran Jean-Yves Charlier will be the new group CEO, said VimpelCom.

Before joining VimpelCom, Charlier (in pix) was the chairman and CEO of the communications and media group SFR, the second largest telecom operator in France with EUR 10 billion in revenues and over 20 million customers.

VimpelCom, which has 222 million customers, will gain from his experience of delivering customers’ digital, entertainment and communications needs.

Lunder is leaving the company to take up other opportunities.

Jean-Yves was responsible for repositioning SFR in one of the most competitive markets in Europe, whilst completing the demerger of the company from Vivendi, at the end of last year, in a EUR 17 billion transaction with cable operator, Numericable.
