Top 10 Indian telecom operators based on revenue in Q3 2011-12

Telecom Lead India: Bharti Airtel is continuing to lead the
Indian telecom market based on revenue in Q3 2011-12. The second largest mobile
operator is Vodafone. Idea Cellular is in the third position. BSNL and Reliance
Communications are in the fourth and fifth positions, respectively, according
to TRAI.

 

Bharti is the leading operator in access segment in terms
of number of subscribers. However, in terms of net additions
during the quarter, Unitech is on the 1st position, followed by Idea
Cellular and Reliance Communications. Tata Teleservices, Videocon and
Quadrant have recorded negative growth during the quarter.

 

In Q3 2011-12, Idea Cellular continues to be the
service provider with highest proportion of rural subscribers to its total
subscribers.

Gross revenue of telecom service sector in India during Q3
ending December 2011 was Rs 49,365 crore, showing a decrease of 1.16 percent
compared to Q2 2011.

 

The year-on-year growth in gross revenue over the same
quarter last year was 15.03 percent. Pass-through charges accounted for 30.96
percent of the GR for the quarter ending December 2011.
