TeliaSonera appoints Robert Andersson as president and CEO in Finland

Telecom Lead Europe: TeliaSonera, a provider of network
access and telecommunication services in the Nordic and Baltic countries,
announced that Robert Andersson has been appointed president and chief
executive officer of Sonera in Finland and member of TeliaSonera Group
Management.

 

For delivering a world class customer experience to all
Sonera customers, the company recruited Robert Andersson to manage all business
units with customer interface in Finland. Finland is one of its most important
markets and core business for TeliaSonera.

 

I am very pleased that we have managed to attract Robert
Andersson, who has a broad international experience and a solid background in
the mobile communication industry from the Nokia Group, as well as a strong
network in Finland, to lead and strengthen our business and the Sonera brand in
Finland,” said Lars Nyberg, president and CEO.

 

Prior to TeliaSonera, Robert Andersson held a number of
managerial and executive positions in strategy and business development, sales,
finance, and operations in the Nokia Group throughout his career.

 

Sonera is a major force in the Finnish ICT industry and
TeliaSonera a strong regional player. I am truly excited to join such an
advanced operator after many years in the handset business”, said Robert
Andersson.

 

TeliaSonera provides network access and telecommunication
services in the Nordic and Baltic countries, the emerging markets of Eurasia,
including Russia and Turkey, and in Spain.

 

TeliaSonera is also the leading European wholesale
provider with a wholly-owned international carrier network. In 2011, net sales
amounted to SEK 104 billion and EBITDA to SEK 36.9 billion.

 

Recently,TeliaSonera
bought 49 percent stake in GSM Kazakhstan (Kcell), from Kazakhtelecom, for
$1.519 billion.
