TeliaSonera announces new business model and team

Telecom service provider TeliaSonera on Monday announced a new business model and changes in top management.

Johan Dennelind, president and CEO of TeliaSonera, said the new model with the new team will be launched on April 1, 2014.

Each country will be headed by executive vice presidents with independent roles.

“By changing operating model TeliaSonera increases its customer focus through accountability. With clearer governance the Group’s strategy, including sustainability and compliance, will be enhanced,” Dennelind added.

As per the new business model, TeliaSonera will remove the business area layer from the existing organization. Countries will become the leading dimension in this new operating model.

Customer focus will become its main thrust area.

The new operating model will improve TeliaSonera’s local operations’ ability to provide an even better customer experience. The country structure will be grouped in three geographic areas; Europe, Eurasia and Sweden.

It will strengthen our ability to enforce and follow up its sustainability, compliance and governance agendas, and support local management and staff in this regard.

In Sweden, Malin Frenning will be appointed as executive vice president (EVP) from the current role of head of Broadband Services.

In Eurasia, Erik Hallberg will be the new EVP from the current position as president of TeliaSonera International Carrier.

In Europe, Robert Andersson will be the new EVP promoted from the earlier position as the head of Finland.

Sverker Hannervall will be senior vice president (SVP) and CTO. Earlier position was the acting head of Business Area Mobility Services.

Ake Sodermark will be the SVP, deputy CTO. Earlier role was head of Group IT.

Finance will be looked after by Christian Luiga, SVP, acting CFO. Human Resources will be handled by Karin Eliasson, SVP, Jonas Bengtsson, SVP, General Counsel will handle Legal Affairs and Peter Borsos, SVP Communications of TeliaSonera.

Erik Hallberg is a new member of the existing Group Management, he will replace Veysel Aral as president of Business Area Eurasia effective immediately and be executive vice president of the geographical area Eurasia from April 1st. He has thorough international experience. Most recently Erik Hallberg was president of TeliaSonera International Carrier within Business Area Broadband Services, he has also been head of TeliaSonera’s Baltic operations among other things.
