Telenor restructures top management team

Telecom network operator Telenor Group announced its new Executive Management team.

The new changes will reflect representation to all 13 markets, where Telenor has presence.

The key result of the reshuffle is the inclusion of 9 non-Norwegians members in the new Executive Management team. Telenor India CEO Vivek Sood, who will be stepping down from the current position, will be part of the new Executive Management team as EVP and chief marketing officer.

This is the first major organizational restructuring announced by the Sigve Brekke, president and CEO of Telenor Group.

Telenor has also set up the functions Markets and Technology to improve and develop customer experiences, and secure networks and IT systems for future demands.

“Telenor provides internet to almost 200 million subscribers and new customer needs are emerging. By more directly involving the business unit CEOs in delivering on the global strategy and priorities, we increase our ability to execute and create value,” said Sigve Brekke, President and CEO of Telenor Group.

Telenor Group has appointed Ruza Sabanovic as executive vice president (EVP) and chief technology officer, Vivek Sood as EVP and chief marketing officer, Wenche Agerup as EVP and chief corporate affairs officer and Jon Gravråk as EVP and chief digital officer.

Richard Aa will continue as chief financial officer and Jon Erik Haug as chief people officer, said Telenor.

Pal Wien Espen will be EVP and head of Partner Relations Asia, while Morten Karlsen, EVP, will be responsible for Telenor’s ownership in VimpelCom and to drive selected strategic projects.

Chief marketing officer, chief digital officer and the head of Partner Relations Asia will be based in Asia.

Sharad Mehrotra has been appointed CEO of Telenor India.

Telenor said Kjell Morten Johnsen, Katja Nordgaard, Henrik Clausen and Martin Furuseth (acting) will step down from Telenor Group’s Executive Management.
