Telenor chairman Svein Aaser to resign

Telenor chairman Svein Aaser
Telenor ASA Chairman Svein Aaser has decided to resign effective immediately.

Svein Aaser has served as chairman since May 16, 2012.

He admitted that the investigation about VimpelCom has been challenging for Telenor.

“The Ministry and I have different views on the handling of the VimpelCom issue. I have informed the Minister of Trade and Industry, Monica Mæland, about my decision,” said Aaser.

Telenor recently decided to divest its minority stake in VimpelCom amid concerns of the ongoing investigation about VimpelCom.

Aaser was instrumental in creating a foundation for the transition of Telenor from a telecom operator towards a global internet service provider.
