TelecomLead Awards 2017: TelecomLead CTO- Mathew Oommen, Jio

Mathew Oommen The jury of TelecomLead Awards 2017 has decided to present TelecomLead CTO award to Mathew Oommen, president of Network at Reliance Jio for the success of Reliance Jio in the Indian 4G space and his contribution to the global telecom industry in the last 12 months.

Reliance Jio has set up a next generation future proof all IP network with the latest features such as Software Defined Networking (SDN) and Network Functions Virtualisation (NFV). Jio can launch 5G without much additional investment.

Reliance Jio, which revolutionized the data network, has added 100 million Jio subscribers in 170 days of launch. The Jio network could withstand pressure from data consumption which was higher than the total mobile data consumption in the US and twice that in China. Jio used the latest technology to launch 4G in all 29 states of India with presence in more than 18,000 urban and rural towns and over 200,000 villages, covering over 95 percent of India’s population.

In addition to Mathew Oommen of Reliance Jio, TelecomLead CTO Award will be given to Shyam Mardikar of Airtel.

TelecomLead Awards Jury details

Satya N Gupta, Jury Chairman and Jury Members including Ravindra Kr Mishra, Rakesh Mehrotra, Girish Trivedi and Baburajan Kizhakedath decided the winners of the TelecomLead Awards 2017 through two rounds of jury meeting in June / July 2017.
