Mobile revenue in three cities — Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata – is set to grow further considering the demand from three telecom operators: Reliance Jio Infocomm, Bharti Airtel and Vodafone on the third day of the spectrum auction that resulted into Rs 50,000 crore worth bids.
900 MHz band is the king of spectrum auction. Today’s spectrum auction was a repeat of Tuesday and Monday.
The provisional winning price per block for the 900 MHz band at the end of round 21 on Wednesday for Delhi telecom circle touched Rs 574.08 crore against Rs 530.73 crore on Tuesday and Rs 428.92 crore on Monday.
Mumbai bid price was Rs 563.09 crore on Wednesday against Rs 552.05 crore on Thursday and Rs 473.24 crore on Monday.
Kolkata wireless business attracted bids worth Rs 192.71 crore on Wednesday against Rs 183.54 on Tuesday and Rs 173.16 crore on Monday in the 900 MHz band.
“Bids of around Rs 50,000 crore received at the end of 21 rounds on third day of spectrum auction,” said Telecom secretary MF Farooqui.

For 1800 MHz band
Gujarat circle received bids at Rs 38.34 crore on Wednesday against Rs 33.76 crore on Tuesday and against Rs 29.74 crore on Monday.
For most of the circles in the 1800 MHz band, bid price was almost static. Here figure in bracket is for Tuesday.
On Wednesday, spectrum bid price remained almost steady for most of the telecom circles including Jammu & Kashmir circle at Rs 1.02 crore (Rs 1.02 crore), Andhra Pradesh Rs 32.60 crore (Rs 32.60 crore), Assam Rs 1.87 crore (Rs 1.42 crore), Bihar Rs 8.22 crore (Rs 7.99 crore), Delhi Rs 44.67 crore (Rs 43.80 crore), Haryana Rs 5.40 (Rs 5.40 crore), Himachal Pradesh Rs 1.20 crore (Rs 1.20 crore), Karnataka Rs 31 crore (Rs 31 crore), Kerala Rs 10.40 crore (Rs 10.40 crore), Kolkata Rs 14.60 crore (Rs 14.60 crore), Madhya Pradesh Rs 8.68 crore (Rs 8.60 crore), Maharashtra, excluding Mumbai, Rs 39.29 crore (Rs 34.60 crore), Mumbai Rs 41.40 crore (Rs 41.40 crore), North East Rs 1.40 crore (Rs 1.40 crore), Orissa Rs 3.20 crore (Rs 3.20 crore), Punjab Rs 10.80 crore (Rs 10.80 crore), Rajasthan Rs 5.20 crore (Rs 5.20 crore), Tamil Nadu, including Chennai, Rs 41.60 crore (Rs 41.60 crore), West Bengal, excluding Kolkata, Rs 4.48 crore (Rs 4.24 crore), Uttar Pradesh (East) Rs 12.20 crore (Rs 12.20 crore) and Uttar Pradesh (West) Rs 15.20 crore (Rs 14.20 crore).
On Monday, the government received bids worth around Rs 40,000 crore.
Telecom minister Kapil Sibal said on Monday: “We took the bold step of rationalizing reserve prices and on the first day itself you have bids worth Rs 40,000 crore.”
The Congress led UPA government set a pan-India rate of Rs 1,765 crore per MHz as the start price for spectrum in the 1800 MHz band, which is about 26 percent lower than the base rate in the March 2013 sale. For the 900 MHz band, it approved a rate that is about 53 percent lower than the March auction price.
