Telecom firms served notice for under-reporting revenues

New Delhi, Dec 12 The government has served a showcause notice on various telecom firms for allegedly under-reporting revenues of over Rs.10,800 crore till November 2012, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said said in the Lok Sabha Friday.

“We have served notice for claims of Rs.10,826.69 crore to different telecom companies for under-reporting of revenues till November 2012,” he said during the Question Hour.

Jaitley said most of the companies have approached the Telecom Disputes Settlement Appellate Tribunal and various courts against the government notice and the tribunal and courts gave stay orders.

The Department of Telecom also registered many cases of under-reporting of revenues.
